1. Talnikovy Waterfall

Talnikovy Waterfall is a very popular waterfall located in a nature reserve called Putorana Nature Reserve. This nature reserve is a part of Krasnoyarsk Krai, one of the cities of Russia. This particular waterfall is named the highest waterfall in Russia and Asia. In 1990, the height of Talnikovy Waterfall was estimated to be 482 meters. But, there are also some claims that the height is more than that and reach as high as 700 meters. What makes it difficult to observe and measure is the fact that each year, the brook is frozen for about 10 months. Because of this, the appearance of this waterfall is also not regular.

2. Kivach Waterfall

Kivach Waterfall is located in the Republic of Karelia, specifically on the Suna River in Kivach Natural Reserve, placed in Kondopoga District. This 10.7 meters high cascade became famous when a Russian poet, namely Gavrila Derzhavin, wrote “Waterfall”, a poem inspired by the wild stream of Kivach Waterfall. “Waterfall” regards as the top level Russian poem of the 18th century. Thanks to this poem, many people, even famous people, wanted to see by themselves the beauty of the waterfall. Because of the increase of public enthusiasm towards Kivach Waterfall, Alexander II, The Emperor of Russia, ordered to build a new road to Kivach. It was built to facilitate tourist and visitors who wanted to be amazed by the waterfall.

While you walk around in nature surrounding the waterfall, you can enjoy the beautiful sound of the birds. If you want to get more information about the flora and fauna in this nature reserve, you can find a museum inside of it where you can learn about the kinds of plants and animals in the Kivach Natural Reserve. You can do all of this sightseeing by walking on the two wooden tracks provided near the waterfall.

Now, there is a little bit of change in this waterfall. This is caused by the incident in 1936 when the river of Kivach Waterfall was diverted to feed a local hydroelectric power station. Although there were negative effects as a result, the condition of Kivach Waterfall is still better than its rivals, Girvas, and Por Porog. Both waterfalls were taller than Kivach and because of this incident, they were completely destroyed. But you do not need to worry, this waterfall still provides you with the best view worth to visit!

3. Agura Waterfall

Agura Waterfall is located in Khosta District, one of the cities of Sochi in Krasnodar Krai. This is one of the most visited places because Sochi, where this waterfall is located, is famous for its hiking track. Tourists and visitors that enjoy both hiking and going to the waterfall can go to Sochi to get to do both activities. It is amazing, isn’t it? 🙂 The height of this waterfall is 30 meters. The waters fall through the ledges and stream to the rivers before separating to different rivulets.
