After the first lesson about conjugation in Russian language that divided into two categories, such as regular and irregular verbs, now we are going to talk about regular and irregular verbs more specifically. Regular Russian Verbs – 2nd Conjugation
Based on R. Jakobson, in the second conjugation with suffix, there are five types of suffixed verbs. Previously, it has been described three types of them: -ИТЬ-/-И-, -ЕТЬ-/-Е- and for the third type -АТЬ-/-ЖА-, this type is used for Ж, Ч, Щ, and Ш (лежать, кричать). The last type is -ЙА-: бояться, стоять, which is a subclass of -AТЬ-.
Examples: Она громко кричит. ‘she screams loudly’.
Они стоят возле двери. ‘They stand near the door.’
Regular Russian Verbs – 1st Conjugation
Before now, it has been told how to conjugate the Russian verbs for the first conjugation. Then, it is time to tell the eight types of suffixed reguler verbs:
- –A- : сказать, писать
- N/S-А : звать, брать
- -ОВА- : рисовать, танцевать
- -АВАЙ- : лавать, вставать
- -АЙ- : раьотать, читать
- -ЕЙ- : болеть, иметь
- -НУ- : крикнуть, привыкнуть
- -О- : бороться, колоть
Examples : Она скажет его о этом фильме. ‘She will tell him about the film.’
Я работаю в фабрике. ‘I work in a factory.’
Irregular Russian Verbs – 1st Conjugation
In irregular verbs there is no suffix in the verbs. The types of non suffixed irregular verbs are ten: в– (жить, плыть), н- (леть, стать, встать), /м-, /н- (жать, начать, мять), /р- (умереть, стереть), ой- (закрыть, мыть), ий- (бить, шить, пить), й- (дуть, обуть), т/д (цвести/вести), с/з- (нести/везти) and к/г- (печь, мочь).
These are some examples of conjugations for Irregular verbs:

Examples : Вы можете играть в футбол. ‘You can play soccer.’
Мы хотим ехать в Индонезию. ‘We want to go (by transportation) to Indonesia.’
Анна идёт в Москве. ‘Anna goes (by walking) to Moscow.’
