Family Phrases in Russian Language

In this lesson we gonna talk about Family words and phrases in Russian. By learning words and phrases about family you will allow yourself to talk about family, which is a popular topic of daily conversation in Russia. Conversation about Family

  • Петр: какая картина висит у вас в стене?
    ‘Kakaya kartina visit u vas v stene?’
    (What picture is that hanging in your wall?)
  • Катя: О! Это моя семейная фотография.
    ‘O! eto moya semeynaya fotografiya.’
    (Oh! That’s my family picture.)
  • Петр: Похоже, у вас большая семья.
    ‘Pokhozhe, u vas bol’shaya sem’ya.’
    (It looks like you have a big family.)
  • Катя: Ты права. В моей семье мой отец, моя мать, мой старший брат, я и мои две младшие сестры.
    ‘Ty prava. V moey sem’e moy otets, moya mat’, moy starshiy brat, ya i mai dve mladshie sestry.’
    (You’re right. In my family I had my father, My mother, my older brother, me, and my two younger sisters.)
  • Петр: Tо есть вы второй ребенок в семье?
    ‘To est’ vy vtoroy rebenok v sem’e?’
    (So you are second child in the family?)
  • Катя: Да.
    ‘Da’
    (Yes)
  • Петр : Kакая большая семья!
    ‘Кakaya bol’shaya sem’ya!’
    (What a big family!)
  • Катя: A как насчет тебя? У тебя есть брат или сестра?
    ‘A kak naschet tebya? U tebya est’ brat ili sestra?’
    (What about you? Do you have a brother or sister?)
  • Петр: Я-единственный ребенок
    ‘Ya-edinstvennyi rebenok’
    (I am an only child.)
  • Катя: Ты такая? Каково это-быть единственным ребенком?
    ‘Ty takaya? Kakovo eto-byt’ edinstvennym rebenkom?’
    (You are? How does it feel to be the only child?)
  • Петр: Я в порядке, у меня было две кошки, так что я никогда не был один.
    ‘Ya v porjadke, u menya bylo dve koshki, tak chto ya nikogda nye byl odin.’
    (I am fine, I had two cats with me so I never really on my own.)
  • Катя: Тебе когда-нибудь было одиноко?
    ‘Tebe kogda-nibud’ bylo odinoko?’
    (Have you ever felt lonely?)
  • Петр: Нет. Я никогда не чувствую себя одиноким, потому что у меня также есть двоюродные братья, которые живут рядом. Они как мои собственные брат и сестра.
    ‘Nyet. Ya nikogda ne chuvstvuyu sebya ojinokim, potomu chto u menja takzhe est’ dvoyurodnye brat’ya, kotorye zhivut ryadom. Onyi kak mai sobstvennye brat i sestra.’
    (No. I never feel lonely because I also have cousins that live nearby. They are like my own brother and sister.)
  • Катя: Повезло тебе. Мои двоюродные братья живут в другом городе, но мой дядя и тетя недалеко отсюда
    ‘Povezlo tebe. Mai dvoyurodnye brat’ya zhivut v drugom gorode, no moy djadja i tetja nedaleko otsyuda’
    (Lucky you. My cousins live in a different city but my uncle and aunt not far from here)
