Kostroma becomes a small city with a unique background and cultural heritage (some say if in this city the original home of Russian Snow Maiden). Now the city is trying to restore the monuments and public spaces that are there. Kostroma also promote existing tourism places in the city by designing many new programs.

Ivanovo is a city being one of the youngest cities in the list of Russian Golden Rings. The city is also sometimes known as the “City of Brides”, because there are more women than men. In addition, Ivanovo is also known as the textile capital of Russia. Ivanovo is indeed not a city that has many tourist attractions like other cities in the Russian Golden Ring list, but it is a place that you deserve to visit as a traveler.

  • Suzdal

Suzdal is a city located on the Kamenka River. This is the smallest city among cities on the list of Russian Golden Rings. Although it is the smallest city, the tourist attractions in Suzdal are the main attraction. There are around 305 registered monuments and buildings in this city. There are even some monuments that have been listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Vladimir is a city located on the Klyazma River. The city became the most attractive city of all cities in the list of Russia’s Golden Ring. This is because Vladimir still maintains the beauty of the rural charm that is there. Formerly Vladimir was the capital of the Russian state in the 12th and 13th centuries. If you visit this city, you have to stay overnight because transportation is still a little inconvenient (you have to use a train or bus).

Sergiev Posad is the closest city to Moscow when compared to other cities on the Russian Golden Ring list. The city is home to the most luxurious and most important monastery in Russia, the Trinity Monastery of St Sergius. It was founded in the middle of the 16th century. If you want to visit this city, it is recommended not to come and drive on Sundays because you will meet with traffic jams there.

  • Pereslavl-Zalessky

Pereslavl-Zalessky is a city located near Lake Pleshcheyev. In this city there are church architectural monuments including 6 monastery architectural complexes and 9 churches. One of the most important places in Pereslavl-Zalessky is the Goritsky-Dormition Monastery which was founded in the early 14th century.

  • Rostov Veliky

Rostov Veliky is a city located on the shores of Lake Nero. This is one of the cities that is the oldest and also the center of tourism in the list of Russian Golden Rings. Actually, the city’s official name is Rostov. Russians are more commonly familiar with the city as Rostov Veliky, to distinguish it from a city of the same name but the city is bigger.
