Grammar and Lexical Explanations

1. Intonation.Intonation helps to distinguish the meaning of an utterance in Russian. The voice tone can either ascend or descend. The ascent or descent of a tone occurs at the accentuated syllable of a word main in meaning in the sentence.
2. In Russian etiquette forms of address are in use:

господин (Mr.) + surname,

госпожа (Ms.) + surname.3. Вы is a personal pronoun. Personal pronouns denote a person or an object.

Keep in mind!

The pronoun вы/Вы is used:

  • while addressing several persons,
  • while addressing a single person as a polite form, usually to persons of an elder age, in an official situation to persons irrespective of their age, to unknown per­sons.

3. Address an unknown person with a question. Make up a dialogue according to the p tern using Russian names and surnames.

Pattern: - Нет. Я Петрова.
Смирнова, Антонова, Кузнецова, Семёнова, Михайлова, Комарова.

4. Insert missing words into the dialogues.
